At the Wannsee conference of the 20th of January, 1942 under the chairmanship of SS-Obergruppenführer (group leader) Reinhard Heydrich, head of the Reich Security Main Office, 15 senior representatives of Nazi Reich government and party departments came together to organize in detail the beginning of the Jewish Holocaust and to assure the cooperation of all parties. In the rooms of the villa in 1992, the Memorial and Education Site "House of the Wannsee Conference" was opened. On the ground floor of the house the permanent exhibition "The Wannsee Conference and the genocide of the European Jews" informs visitors of the process of exclusion, persecution and expulsion of Jews between 1933 and 1945 by the Nazis. Also how ghettoization was arranged, and deportation, and the murder of European Jews in the German sphere of influence.

The Pfaueninsel is a landscape park in the Havel river. It is displayed entirely as a natural protection area, belongs to the Foundation of Prussian Palaces and Gardens of Berlin-Brandenburg and since 1990, together with the castles and parks of Potsdam Sanssouci and Berlin-Glienicke it is listed as a UNESCO world cultural heritage site. The Pfaueninsel is closely linked with important events and people of Brandenburg- Prussian history.
